PORTLAND, OREGON TECH JOBS HERE!!!!

Rider Relaxing before the World Naked Bike Ride In Portland in 2011,  I could swear this gentle soul was my 1-1 tutor

Ok, so you made it to my blog...awesome!  There is so much good stuff here besides the tempting photos of the bold and daring Portlanders who rode in the World Naked Bike Ride in Portland, Oregon.  However, cool these photos are...the point of my blog is to demonstrate to folks who say there is a limited supply of jobs in Portland are so wrong!!!

This is not where young people go to retire.  This is where brilliant people go to get away from LA and SF to be able to bike to work and live a healthier more organic lifestyle.  Why else would such cool companies move here?

So, the trick to making a life here is to understand the labor market.  What we need here are Tech Wizards, Gaming pros and all around cool people who would rather code in a hammock than a ware house.   The business leaders who are creating start ups here get what the benefits they need to have to create a work environment for creative people.

Although I don't really drink  beer, one company offers beer once a project is done.  Another offers snacks, daily workout time, childcare  and a host of other amazing productivity enhancers.

So, to prove a point, I have already posted a few job openings on my site.  The funny thing is that I have had only a few daring bold polite people actually pick up the phone and call me about an opening.

Guess what, I will answer.  Unless I am in a meeting.  Folks are so numb from leaving unanswered voicemail messages and sending in online applications without a response that they are getting kind of exhausted trying to get these jobs that are there for the picking for those with certain skills.

On the employer side, HR folks are still feeling like their pride will be hurt if they have to offer someone a few bucks to find them a "real" catch.

So, how do we solve this problem?  My suggestion is an invitation only event where Tech Wizards, Gaming pros and Graphic Designers all bring a Power Point Presentation and we auction off interviews with you to the companies who really need you?  I have the venue all picked out, the food and booze will soon be selected.  Now, all we need is the talented folks who need a job and the companies willing to grant or pay a fee to have the chance to meet you face to face.

It is like speed dating, but different.  I have a celebrity auctioneer all picked out, the tech guy to project the portfolio.

If you would like the date and location of this secret event.
All you have to do is ask and have your portfolio ready to GO!

Just make a PowerPoint presentation with your first name only and use your real last initial to brand the presentation.  I will need a few major local or not so local sponsors to cover a few costs.

This is GOING TO WORK~!  I dare one single job searcher to call me and put their name on the list!  I dare one single employer to sponsor this event.  Here is my personal cell phone number.
Call me when your portfolio is ready or if you are an employer call me if you are ready to cut through all the resume and find your people!  Nike?  Wanna sponsor this and turn it into one of those amazing RAVES you create in that warehouse in the Pearl?

Call me, I won't bite,
Jodi Stone

And yes, I too need a great graphic designer! Don't even bother googling it yet!

To the well meaning control freak who keeps taking my job postings on LinkedIn and moving them, C'mon...it is not helping!
They will here now, exclusively.

Baby Dancing to Beyonce - ORIGINAL! @babycory on Twitter

" If you love him or her, make a deal and seal it with a kiss.
Celebrate your joy and don't worry about who agrees or not.  Just make it happen.  Love is  the only thing that really matters.  Do you have someone to love?  If not, keep looking!
Some say stop looking, others say look for love the someway you would look for a set of lost keys."  Jodieve 14,444 hits today!  Where is my other half?  Google?  Buffer?

How To Be Alone by Andrea Dorfman

First Thursday put me in a pickle!

My first First Thursday
Thank you Drew for making it a blast.
I had the pleasure of photographing people holding a paper mache pickle for Drew at his gallery.
I then bought a piece of signed art that I absolutely love. It is watercolor of a pickle with a pillow and chair inside of it. Drew has an unfinished pickle of a photo with a bike that I hope to purchase soon.
I need to find his website? Someone send help?
I took a photo of a woman breast feeding the pickle, a woman adoring the pickle while it was held by another woman and much much more.
We'd all love to see the pickle pictures!
I must have more pickles! I feel like I am having a pregnancy craving. Next I will need ice cream?

Another Gem From The World Naked Bike Ride in Portland

NO FUMES
This is a treasure, just located on a discarded disk. It is actually really funny. It makes a great point that bike riders do not use smelly fuels.
I thought it was adorable.
What do you think?
I hoped to turn it right side up, but just didn't see the point.

See photo below for a photo contest!
The winner will have a free 1o minute photo session with me!
You have to be located in Portland, Oregon to win.

1st Annual World Naked Bike Ride Photo Contest!

This will be the John and Yoko protest image or our generation. These two were making their protest statement very clear. Who can tell me what the writing says? If you can ID the writing and what it says, you will win a free 1o minute photo session with me! This is a contest that would be so easy for you to win! Send your entries to Jodi@jodieve.com.

Check out the 40 best photos of the Naked Bike Ride done by others photographers.
I am not sure who? But they are really fun!
http://www.buzzfeed.com/mjs538/the-40-best-pictures-from-the-world-naked-bike-rid
Let me know which you like best??
This is a photo of the "dome" or HQ whichever you like. That is where volunteers met before the big ride.

This is a shot of HQ lit up in the night after the riders left on their mission.
8000 people left the area and this was all that remained. It was eeerie to re-enter the space. I can't explain it.
Everyone who cared, had left to spread the word and this was the tiny imprint they left behind, aglow in the night.
Crepes a la Carte dares to bare?
At the Naked Bike Ride would you have wanted crepes served to you by a naked person? Does that even meet food service codes? I just thought this funny shot of them hiding their family jewels was really funny! Would you agree? If you want to book me for your next event: e-mail me to see if I am free. Jodi@jodieve.com.

What it means to be a Social Media Photographer

When I first started as a wedding photographer my goal was to capture joy and I did.
As of late, I have realized that my calling is as a photographer in a category that I recently coined to be able to explain what I do. I coined the term Social Media Photographer because the work has called me to action. As technology bursts at the seems on a daily basis, I came to understand that photographs no longer live in albums. They live on our phones, on our computers and on Facebook. So, to extract the images from the technology requires some old school thinking.
That is why I have changed my whole approach to capturing joy.
The joy is in our shared experience. My non profit clients can rely on me to create images that send their message, reach their target markets and build their brands. The families that hire me rely on me to capture their very essence. I chose this next photograph to share as it represents the comfort that my subject felt in sitting peacefully naked before the WNBR (World Naked Bike Ride in Portland Oregon). He was aware of how his image would be used to fight to reduce the use of fossil fuels and to show just how vulnerable those who choose biking can be.
If we are using nudity to create social change: What does the future hold when nudity is widely accepted? I am so curious.....There have been over 2700 hits on my blog since the Naked Bike Ride in Portland Oregon. Who are my readers and how did you find my blog?
Is there one person out there who visits on a daily basis a thousand times a day?
Please enter your e-mail address in the box above or write to me at Jodi@jodieve.com so that I can learn more about this amazing influx of interest and attention. I am just so curious?
